BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (WDTN) - Thieves managed to escape police after breaking into a Beavercreek department store Friday, January 8, 2010.
The suspects forced their way into the J. C. Penney store at 2727 Fairfield Commons at about 2:20 a.m. and stole an unknown quantity of jewelry.
Employees were in the store at the time of the theft and saw one suspect wearing black clothing and a ski mask.
Officers then saw a tan colored Honda Odyssey van parked in the area of J. C. Penney that drove away as officers approached.
Police said the suspects fled northbound on N. Fairfield onto Wright State University property before driving back onto Colonel Glenn Hwy. in Fairborn.
The van then crashed down an embankment off Colonel Glenn Hwy. and drove off in an unknown direction.
No one was confronted or hurt during the incident.
