Greene Co. fugitive arrested in Florida

Xenia, Ohio (WDTN) - A man wanted in Greene County man who''s been profiled on America's Most Wanted was arrested in Ocala, Fla. Feb. 6, 2010.

Jorge Luis Hernandez was booked on Ohio charges of eight counts of theft, eight counts of receiving stolen property and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, according to the Ocala Star-Banner.

According to published reports, police in Ocala were contacted by an Greene County prosecutor's office Feb. 3 with information that Hernandez may be in their city. The Greene County official said Hernandez, also known as Freddy Diaz, 33, may be operating a business in Ocala.

With that information, and information for the America's Most Wanted Web site, Ocala police were able to track Hernandez to Las Potras Cantina Sports Bar, where he was arrested.

Hernandez is accused of being part of a nationwide theft ring that targets shopping malls for high priced clothing and jewelry.

Hernandez was arrested in New York several years ago and was extradited to Ohio. There, he posted bond and has been on the run since, officials said.

The charges came in 2005 and 2009.
