SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) - In the election that seemingly won't end, volunteers are conducting an audit at the board of elections in Shelby County.
Shelby County is where the school levy in Sidney ended in a tie, and then passed when one mis-filed ballot was found.
To give the voters confidence countywide, the board of elections is holding what's called a voluntary audit.
Board officials said the outcome won't change the success of the school levy, it is simply to make sure ballots certified match the number of voters who cast those ballots.
"We want to make sure every vote counts," said board of elections chairman Merrill Asher. "This election, although did have a close race, a couple of close races. We feel it's important to verify all votes have been processed."
Volunteers are recounting more than 17,000 ballots.
