MIAMI TOWNSHIP (WDTN) - A fire at a Miami Township apartment building is under investigation.

Fire officials said flames broke out in the laundry area around 11:30 Tuesday night at the Covey Run Apartments on Taos Drive.

While they still don't know the cause, Miami Township Deputy Chief Glenn Jika said there are a number of things people can do to prevent fires in their laundry room.

"The first thing is good housekeeping," he said. "People -- we like to stack stuff. That's a fire waiting to happen.

Some apartment residents were given a free night's stay at a nearby hotel while the building was repaired.

No injuries were reported.
