TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - A man who had been shot multiple times in the legs and chest showed up on the doorstep at 3762 Wilmore Street in Trotwood looking for help, police said. The homeowner did not let the man in because he had a gun. When officers arrived, they found the man collapsed near the home.
The victim told police he'd been robbed and shot at the Auto Zone just a block away in the 4000 block of Salem Avenue. When police arrived to that scene, they found the man's car riddled with at least 10 bullets.
Officers later found what they believe is the victim's handgun in the yard of the home where he went looking for help. Preliminary reports are that the gun had been recently fired, though it's not clear if it was involved in the shooting at Auto Zone.
The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.
Police are now searching for a brown four-door car, which witnesses said belongs to the shooter.
