DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A once-foreclosed and vacant home now completely renovated marks progress in Dayton’s neighborhood revitalization initiatives, as one of the many properties returned to productive use through Neighborhood Stabilization Programs.
A ribbon-cutting and open house will be held on Wednesday, October 12, at 3:00 p.m., to celebrate the home’s transformation.
The four-bedroom, two-bath, brick Cape Cod, at 2438 Catalpa Drive in Dayton’s Hillcrest neighborhood, has energy efficient windows, a wood burning fireplace, beautifully finished hardwood floors, and completely remodeled kitchen and baths, along with new energy-efficient mechanical systems and appliances.
In 2008 and 2009, the City of Dayton sought and was awarded more than $25 million in federal Neighborhood Stabilization funds, to be used for property acquisition, rehabilitation and demolition, as well as construction of new housing in targeted areas.
