Cut the salt by cutting the bread

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WDTN) - You've probably heard it from your doctor more than once to stop eating so much salt.

It turns out the biggest source of sodium in your diet comes from an unlikely source, bread.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put together a list of 10 foods that account for more than 40-percent of the salt you eat.

Individual servings may not be that salty, but it adds up when you eat several slices or bowls.

After bread and rolls, deli lunch meats came in second followed by pizza, poultry, soup, fast food burgers, sandwiches cheese and pasta.  Pretzels and potato chips round out the list.
