TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - 1,200 pregnant women and children were vaccinated for the H1N1 flu virus at Hara Arena in Trotwood, Thursday, October 29.
It was Montgomery County's first free public swine flu clinic.
It was held only for pregnant women and children, ages 6 months to
4 years old.
Some lined up 9 hours before the doors opened at 3p.m.
" I couldn't believe how many people were here, it was
crazy." Said Erica Tyler. She waited in line only about an hour
before she got her shot.
"I'm pregnant, and due in two weeks, and the baby can't get a
flu shot for 6 months and I want both him and I to be immune to
it." She said.
Montgomery County Health Commissioner Jim Gross said they had
4,000 doses available and
what is left over will go into a stockpile that will be
distributed to schools and other free clinics.
"It was a great operation. Some arrived at 6 a.m. this morning,
and we started at 3p.m, and every one has been so appreciative
we appreciate their great attitude." Gross said.
