GREENE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) - It was a sign that greeted voters at the Greene County Board of Elections and others across the state Monday.

'Closed for Columbus Day.'

But when it comes to election season, campaigns never take a holiday.

Even though you couldn't register to vote at any boards of elections because of the federal holiday, the 'Gotta Vote' bus tour was still signing up students at Wright State University with the help of Actress Tracee Ellis Ross.

"If I can use my visibility to help energize and remind people the importance of this moment then that's what I'm here to do," Ellis Ross says.

The election may still be a month away, but you wouldn't know it from the push to get people to register and vote.

Tuesday marks a major deadline. If you're not registered by the end of the day, you won't be able to pick a president this election season.

"People are really excited about this election," says Wright State student Malaya Davis. "Especially students. They know what's at stake."

Groups across the area are making an effort Tuesday normally reserved for Election Day.

The Dayton Unit of the NAACP will host a 'Ride with Stars to the Polls' event at Courthouse Square in Dayton starting at 8 a.m.

In a world with early voting, the mantra is now better early than never.

"Anything can happen on the day of election," says President of the Dayton Unit of the NAACP, Derrick Foward.

Boards of Elections across the area will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday if you want to register.

You can also vote as well if you'd like.

Keep in mind Tuesday is also the deadline to update your address if you moved, otherwise you'll have to vote provisionally.
