DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - You will be able to vote during the three days leading up to the November 6th presidential general election.

The US Supreme Court refused to block early voting in Ohio on November 3rd, 4th and 5th.

It's a blow for Secretary of State Jon Husted who had been fighting President Obama's campaign about it for several months.

The Montgomery County Board of Elections Director Steve Harsman says the ruling is win for all voters.

About 9,000 people in Montgomery County voted in the three days before the 2008 Presidential election and Harsman expects that number to be even bigger this year.

He says they've already seen an increase in the number of early voters this year, about 2,000 more to date than in 2008.

Harsman adds the BOE had already prepared for early voting on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday before the election.

"We're very excited. It was apart of our original game plan so it really doesn't change or have an impact on us, other than now we know and it provided some clarity to the issue. We're anxiously ready to vote voters," says Harsman.

Secretary Of State Jon Husted issued this statement Tuesday about the ruling: "Despite the Court's decision today to deny our request for a stay, I firmly believe Ohio and its elected legislature should set the rules with respect to elections in Ohio, and not the federal court system."

With the election now just 3 weeks away, officials urge you to take advantage of early voting. Casting your ballot now will help you avoid what could be very long lines at the polls come November 6th.
