Fairborn needs police and fire levies to pass

FAIRBORN, Ohio (WDTN) - The City of Fairborn is looking at serious cuts should police and fire levies fail on Election Day.

Fire Chief Mike Riley says his department is already rail thin, so it badly needs the 4.4 mil levy to pass.

Three firefighters and four police officers will be out of work if respective levies don't pass next Tuesday.

"It's honestly been a dire straight for the past decade. It's just not to the point where it's people. We've reorganized, we've done different things, we've been as creative as we can with the funds that we have," said Chief Mike Riley, Fairborn Fire Department.

Each levy will cost homeowners $9.00 a month, per $100,000 of home value.

You will have the option to vote on the police and fire issues individually.

The police and fire levies are issues 19 and 20 on the ballot for Fairborn residents.
