DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Dayton Chapter of the Red Cross ventured out on a Great Escape Friday night.

The evening of hobnobbing and fundraising came a little early or late depending on how you wish to see it.  It's usually held in the spring, but organizers wanted to take advantage of the holiday spirit and decided that November is the perfect time.

The event is the public's chance to support disaster relief programs to ensure that the Red Cross will always be there when needed.

A silent auction was held where each item went to the highest bidder.  There was also music, dance and plenty of food.

It's great that these present and future community leaders step up so significantly for the people we help," states Tom Fodor, Chief Executive Officer of the Dayton Area Chapter.

The Great Escape was held at the Dayton County Club.
