Local youth honored for accomplishments

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - Some local students received big honors Wednesday evening for outstanding work both in and out of school.

The Miami Valley Optimists Youth Appreciation Awards banquet was held in Kettering.

Our own Jim Bucher emceed the event recognizing 18 middle and high school students for their good grades and extracurricular activities.

Kaitlyn Fine from Stivers School For the Arts took home a $1,000 Optimist scholarship to use for college.

The awards banquet started in 1976.
