MIAMI TWP, Ohio (WDTN) - Kroger stores collected your extra change and it is paying off for people without enough to eat.
The stores sat out collection boxes from November through February collecting money for the Foodbank.
Kroger handed over a check Thursday worth a whopping $17,000.
The Foodbank serves people in Montgomery, Greene, Preble and Miami counties.
"We have 132,000 food individuals, so this donation goes a long way for every food insecure individual we serve," said Rosemary Dannon , Foodbank.
The $17,000 raised is $7,000 more than last year. The check presentation was held at the Austin Landing store in Miami Township.
We're told a group of men told police that three suspects opened fire at them.
