CENTERVILLE, OH (WDTN) - You can be part of a heartfelt tribute to a woman known for her gift of giving. When the curtain goes up at the Sound of Music production at Epiphany Lutheran church Thursday night, a longtime fixture of the play will not be there.
With Kay Wean's youngest daughter Megan filling her mother's spot in the background, and her oldest daughter Kandis on stage, family and friends know Kay is smiling down on them as they do the final dress rehearsal for "The Sound of Music" production. "Even when I'm here helping out I can see her running up and down and doing all the things she used to do." said Megan Wean. For sixteen years, Kay was head of the drama and childrens ministries at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Centerville. Two and a half weeks ago, she lost her 13-month battle with leukemia at the age of 56. "The only reason she fought was to come back here. This was her calling. The kids. She wanted to get back to the kids." said Kay's husband Ron as he fought back tears.
Kay's giving, humble, loving and caring nature is still present in her girls and her husband. So with a little laughter, a few tears, and heavy hearts, her children along with a loving congregation is making sure the show goes on, in her honor.
"She has such a huge family at the church. I think there are a lot of people who want to continue this for her." said Mega
