Vanessa joined "Living Dayton" as a co-host/producer in January 2013. Prior to coming to the Gem City, Vanessa was a general assignment reporter in the Poconos for BRC TV-13. There, she covered everything from grand openings to drug busts. This Baltimore native has a bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Public Relations from Marymount University, which she used to parlay herself into the world of politics, working in Washington, D.C at NBC News and MSNBC.
At NBC she worked on shows such as "Andrea Mitchel Reports" and "Morning Joe". Vanessa also covered the 2008 presidential election and served as a White House field producer with the network pool. Serving as a multimedia journalist she shot, edited, and produced web pieces for Nightly News online.
In her free time, she feeds her hunger for the arts, and has been in a number of theater productions from "Grease" to "The Pajama Game", and most recently a professional production of "CATS" as Bombalurina. Vanessa also has a heart for the community and dedicates her time to serving as ambassador and public speaker for UNICEF and a number of organizations promoting breast cancer awareness. Her life motto is “Be the change you want to see”.
