Katie Ussin joined 2 News in July of 2012 as the co-anchor of the 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news on WDTN, as well as the 10 p.m. news on Dayton's CW.
Katie grew up in Billings, Montana and after high school traveled to New York City to study merchandising management at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After one year there, she moved to Tempe, Arizona to study journalism and graduated from The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University.
Katie began her career in her hometown as a reporter at KULR-TV. She anchored and produced the First News at Five for three years while continuing to report for all newscasts. She then became the co-anchor of the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. broadcasts.
Katie has won numerous awards for her on-air work. She is a winner of the Montana Associated Press Awards for Best TV Spot News Live Reporting and Best TV Newswriting. She has also received top honors from the Society of Professional Journalists for her reporting and photojournalism. Katie was also named Broadcaster of the Year by the Montana Broadcasters Association.
She has always been involved in numerous community organizations, including one especially close to her heart, The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. In her free time, Katie has a passion for traveling. She loves spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephew, and meeting new people. She also enjoys playing golf, although she never has enough time to perfect her swing!
