Erik Zarnitz joined the WDTN Live Doppler 2X Weather Team in February of 2007 and is the Meteorologist for 2 News at 6 and 11pm on Saturdays and Sundays. During the week you can also catch him reporting on weather and environmental issues around the Miami Valley.
Before joining Channel 2, Erik worked as the morning meteorologist for KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, SD. During his time at KDLT he was awarded the Eric Sevareid Award for "Best Weathercast" in a midsized market.
A Morristown, NJ native, Erik received a Bachelors of Science degree from Valparaiso University, majoring in meteorology, with minors in geography and broadcasting. He then went on to earn his MBA in Global Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In 2006, the American Meteorological Society awarded Erik its CBM or "Certified Broadcast Meteorologist " Seal. This certification is the hardest to attain in the broadcast meteorology field, consisting of stringent education requirements, a test, and a tape review.
In his spare time, Erik enjoys reading, traveling, cooking, weightlifting, tweeting on twitter, and catching up with friends on facebook.
