Sonu Wasu joined WDTN-TV in October 2007 as a General Assignment Reporter. She will primarily report from our Springfield Bureau, covering Clark and surrounding communities.
Sonu comes to Channel 2 from WATE-TV in Knoxville, TN. She was also the weekend anchor at WCYB-TV and began her career as a news writer at WNSD-TV in San Diego.
Sonu attended the University of California-San Diego, majoring in Mass Communications, with a minor in Scientific Perspectives/Japanese Studies. She is a member and volunteer at St. Luke Catholic Church in Beavercreek and while in Knoxville, volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She is also a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.
Sonu was born and raised in India and Japan. She speaks four languages fluently including: Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Japanese. She moved to the United States at the age of 17 and is a first generation American citizen; she received her U.S. citizenship in 2000.
